Grace Hill Church runs www.gracehillnc.org. This page explains what the site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it plainly rather than in legal language.
What you give us directly
If you fill in the contact form on this site, we receive what you type: your name, your email address, and your message. It is sent to the church office so we can reply to you and follow up on what you asked about. We keep it as long as we need it for that, and we do not sell it, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
Prayer requests sent through the form are received by the church office and are never used for marketing.
What is collected automatically
Like most websites, this one records some information about visits so we can understand what is useful and what is not.
Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location, device and browser type, and sets cookies or similar identifiers to tell one visit from another. It also records certain actions, for example clicking a phone number, an email address, a giving link or a map link, submitting the contact form, or playing a sermon video, so we can see which parts of the site people use.
Umami, a lightweight analytics tool, reports the same kind of page-level information.
Advertising
We advertise through the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits. The site uses Google's advertising tag, which sets a cookie so that when someone reaches the site from one of our ads, Google can tell us which ads led to visits and contacts. Our Google Analytics property is linked to that advertising account, and ads personalization is currently enabled on that link, which means the data can be used by Google to tailor advertising. If you would rather that did not happen, the controls described below let you switch it off.
Video
Some pages include video hosted on YouTube. When a page with embedded video loads, YouTube can set its own cookies and see that you visited the page, under its own privacy policy rather than ours. We do not control what it collects.
Giving
Online giving is handled by Planning Center on its own website, not on ours. Card and bank details are entered on their system and are never collected by, stored on, or visible to this website. Their privacy policy governs that part.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website. If you believe a child has sent us information through the site, contact us and we will remove it.
Cookies, and turning things off
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some embedded content may not. Google offers its own opt-outs for analytics and for advertising personalization, which apply across every site that uses them, not only ours.
What you can ask us to do
Write to office@gracehillnc.org and you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We will do that unless we are required to keep something. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's law; tell us and we will honor them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
